The Roanoke College women will open their Old Dominion Athletic Conference season next Tuesday, November 28, when they host Bridgewater College at 7 pm at the Cregger Center in Salem.

The Maroons opened the 2017-18 season with three games last week. On Wednesday, November 15, they traveled to Ferrum to play the Panthers, coached by Glenvar and Roanoke College grad Bryan Harvey. The Maroons led 31-29 at the half but Ferrum outscored them in the third quarter, 20-7, and went on to a 72-56 win.

Roanoke was led by Molly Hassell with 13 points on the night. Allison Livengood had nine points for RC, while Eleri Hayden, Madeline Suhr and Corinne McPadden all had six points in the loss for the Maroons.

Last weekend the Maroons hosted the annual Jean Beamer Classic and dropped two games. On Saturday they fell to Piedmont College, 76-64. Roanoke got a team-high 17 points from  Hassell. Kristina Harrell had nine points, while Laura McManimen and Hayden each had eight points in the loss. Livengood grabbed a team best seven rebounds.

On Sunday afternoon the Maroons dropped to 0-3 with a 62-54 loss to Birmingham Southern in the second day of the Beamer Classic. McManimem led RC with 17 points while Harrell had 11. Salem High grad Victoria Maxwell pulled down six rebounds for the Maroons.

The Maroons were scheduled to play Salem College on Tuesday in Winston-Salem, NC, hoping to get their first win. Results were too late for publication.
