Lewis track team runs at Wm. Byrd

The Andrew Lewis track teams competed at William Byrd Middle School last Wednesday in Vinton.

The girls defeated teams from Clifton, Blacksburg, and William Byrd.  The Wolverines were led by double winners Kalei Memmer, Tiffany McLaughlin, and Emma Chamberland.  Kalei remained undefeated in the shot and discus while improving improved her own school record in the discus with a throw of 87’-2’’

Chamberland won the 1600 and 800 meter runs for the second week in a row. McLaughlin won the high jump and the 100 meters while Kaitlyn Crumpacker, Moriah Hill, Chrissy Cummings and Jackie Magis placed in multiple events.

The boys were led by Amarri Edwards, who placed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and the long jump. Nathan Helems placed in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs, and Jorden McDonald placed in the shot and discus.

The track teams return to action on April 26th in a home meet at Salem High School.
