The Andrew Lewis Middle School 8th football team ran its record to 3-0 on the season with a 26-12 victory over the Terriers of William Byrd Middle School at Salem Stadium last week.

Brody Dawyot hit Tre Dawyot on a 40 yard touchdown pass to score the last touchdown and seal the victory late in the fourth quarter. Also getting into the endzone was Brayden White on two runs and Coen Logan, who caught a short pass and ran it for a touchdown.

Playing well on defense was Jaayden Burton from the nose guard position.  Likewise the offensive line of Evan Taylor, Kevin Easley, D.J. Lynch, Bradley Cuddy, Carson Garland and Tolin Schumeyer provided pass protection and running lanes.

Lewis had two games postponed this week. Monday’s game with Blacksburg was called due to COVID conerns at Blacksburg Middle School and today’s scheduled game at Hidden Valley was canned due to lack of players on the Hidden Valley team. Lewis is scheduled to host Northside next Wednesday, September 22, at Salem Stadium.

The Lewis 7th grade team defeated William Byrd twice in a week’s time to run their record to 3-1-1. The Wolverines won  in Vinton last week, 37-0, and in Salem on Monday, 34-22. The seventh graders will host Smith Mountain Lake Christian School today at Salem Stadium prior to the jayvee game with Northside.
