The Roanoke College women’s soccer team is off to a great start. The Maroons are 5-0 thrugh the weekend and sophomore Morgan O’Neill has been named the ODAC Player of the week.

The Maroons are off to the good start thanks in part to the offensive output of O’Neill. Over the weekend, Roanoke traveled to New York to face Oneonta and Hartwick. O’Neill scored three goals, including the game winner against the Red Dragons. This season, the Morristown (N.J.) native has six goals and 12 total points, both tops in the ODAC.

On Sunday against Hartwick Roanoke got on the board quickly and added a second tally just 11 minutes into the match. Coming out of the break with a 3-0 edge, the Maroons would add three more goals in the second half to cruise to a 6-0 victory over the Hawks. Roanoke has opened the season by outscoring their opponents 20-1.

The next stop for RC was Wednesday at Christopher Newport, followed by a home game against Pfeiffer this Saturday at Salem’s Kerr Stadium at 5 pm.
