Roanoke College senior right-handed pitcher Maggie McCray earned second-team honors with the release of the all-state college division softball team as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
McCray, also a second-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honoree, set two program records this season and an ODAC mark. She set the new conference and program single-game strikeout record with 20 in the ODAC Tournament in a 6-4 11-inning win over Bridgewater College. McCray shattered the RC single-season strikeout record with 205 in just 125.2 innings. She had a 13-7 record with one save and a 1.56 ERA and opposing batters hit just .165 against her.
Virginia Wesleyan took three of the major honors, as Brandon Elliott took home Coach of the Year honors and Laci Campbell and Morgan Tucker were named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Randolph-Macon’s Gracie Ellis was named the organization’s Pitcher of the Year.
