Junior Maddie McDonald added to her list of postseason honors as she was named Second Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). McDonald becomes the first player to earn second team honors since Lilly Blair did so in 2022. The selection also makes McDonald the fourth Maroon since 2000 to take home second team or higher All-American laurels from the IWLCA.

McDonald and fellow junior Jordan Wheeler earned All-American honors from USA Lacrosse. McDonald was named to the second team while Wheeler took home honorable mention accolades.

This is McDonald’s second consecutive year earning and All-American laurel from USA Lacrosse as she was named to the third team after the 2025 season. The attacker adds the honor to the list of accolades this season, which includes First Team All-ODAC, ODAC Offensive Player of the Year, and ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. McDonald finished the campaign third in goals and 13th in points in all DIII. Her final stat line for the year included a program record 89 goals, 18 assists, 107 points, 92 draw controls, 30 ground balls, and 16 caused turnovers.

Wheeler grabs the first All-American award of her career after a standout year anchoring the Roanoke defense. She finished the season with 36 caused turnovers and 43 ground balls to rank her second and eighth in the ODAC. In 2026, Wheeler doubled her ground ball total and tripled her caused turnover total from 2025, helping her to a First Team All-ODAC nod. She also was an important part of the draw team, tallying 43 draw controls on the season.

Also, McDonald, Wheeler and junior Zoe Blair have been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Chesapeake Region team. McDonald earned first team laurels while Blair and Wheeler were both selected to the second team.
