Spring sports are just around the corner. The Virginia High School League spring season officially begins Monday with both Salem and Glenvar teams on the schedule.
Salem will have three games on opening day, including a softball game against Franklin County at the Moyer Complex scheduled for 7 pm. Both lacrosse teams play as the boys open defense of their 2025 state championship with a 7:15 pm home game against Western Albemarle at Spartan Field. The girls are at Western Albemarle.
Glenvar’s baseball, girls’ soccer and girls’ tennis teams all open at home Monday. The baseball team plays Hidden Valley and the soccer and tennis teams take on William Byrd.
The Highlanders are at Hidden Valley for softball Monday. The boys’ tennis team is at Byrd and the boys’ soccer team goes to Hidden Valley.
Next Tuesday, on St. Patrick’s Day, Salem’s softball and girls’ soccer teams will host Byrd. The Spartan baseball and boys’ soccer teams will be in Vinton.
Ironically Glenvar, the green team, has nothing going on St. Patty’s Day!
