One more opportunity exists for volunteers to participate in the packing of bags of nutritious snacks to be given children from seven Salem area elementary schools who are eligible in the school year for free lunches. On Monday, Aug. 7, from 5:30 to about 6:30 p.m. food items are bagged in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, 125 W. Main St. in Salem. In three previous packings volunteers have come from several congregations, service clubs and youth groups. This effort is a summer project of Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries.
