The Salem Host Lions Club awarded a total of $18,000 in scholarships to seven deserving graduates from Salem High School (SHS) and Glenvar High School (GHS). Scholarship recipients and their families joined the Salem Host Lions at their annual scholarship dinner on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Salem Civic Center.
Scholarship recipients for this year included (from left to right): Austin Meadows (GHS), Maxwell Plummer (SHS), Logan Hux (GHS), Fredric Eichelman (GHS), Raleigh Brookshier (GHS), Vincent Pinello (SHS) and Elissa Look (SHS). Not pictured, Dale Magnum, a previous graduate from Salem High School received the Roland Wine Memorial scholarship.
The Salem Host Lions Club main fundraiser is operating the concession stand at the Salem Stadium. The club has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships over the last seven years. The Salem Host Lions meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Salem Civic Center.
