Roanoke College’s head men’s soccer coach, Ryan Pflugrad, announced the addition of RC alumnus Chuckie Tenbusch ’21 to the coaching staff.

“We are very excited to add Chuckie to the staff,” said Pflugrad. “His successful experiences at multiple institutions as well as his familiarity with our Roanoke program makes him an exciting addition to our 2025 staff and season. Chuckie is one of the most resilient people I have worked in my time coaching and that characteristic added along with his knowledge of the game will aid our program and our student athletes immensely.”

Tenbusch joins the staff after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director at Bruton High School in Williamsburg, Va. While at Bruton, he was also the assistant coach for the boys’ soccer team that made back-to-back VHSL state final four appearances in 2024 and 2025. Tenbusch also coached at the club soccer level for Virginia Reign.

The Williamsburg, Va. native had an extensive playing career as a defender, including stops at Mount Ida College, Roanoke, and Johnson & Wales University in Providence. Tenbusch rounded out his undergraduate career at Roanoke, where he played on the 2019 NCAA tournament team and in the shortened 2020 COVID season. After graduating with a degree in Sports Management, Tenbusch made his way to Providence, R.I. for two graduate years at Johnson & Wales.

Tenbusch will add to the men’s soccer staff that includes 12th year head coach Ryan Pflugrad, assistant coaches Matt Campbell and Shelley Blumenthal, strength and conditioning coach Izzy O’Connell, and athletic trainer, Bailee Baylor.
