The Andrew Lewis Middle School girls split their first two matches of the season last week. The Wolverines lost to Pulaski but bounced back to beat Cave Spring, both in Salem.
The Pulaski match went three games. Salem actually had more points over the course of the match, 62-59, but lost the match 26-24, 18-25, and 15-13.
On Thursday Lewis had another close one, this time coming out on top. Lewis won the first game, 25-23, but dropped the second, 25-22. In the third Salem pulled out a 15-12 win to even their record on the young season.
“The girls played very hard,” said coach Kim Crist. “I’m so very proud of what the season is going to look like.”
This week Andrew Lewis was scheduled to host Blacksburg on Tuesday and Ben Franklin Middle School on Thursday.
