Amherst College, ranked seventh in the nation in NCAA Division III, defeated Roanoke College, 17-9, in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game in Amherst, Massachusetts last Saturday.

The Mammoths opened a 4-1 lead after one period as Julian Kammerman found the back of the net for RC. Roanoke cut the lead to 5-3 in the second after tallies from Wyatt Whitlow and Luca Docking but Amherst answered with five-straight goals and went on to the win.

Luke Kammerman finished with three goals and an assist for Roanoke. Patrick Cullen and Whitlow each scored twice and Docking posted a goal and two assists.

The Maroons have two ODAC games this week. They were scheduled to host Shenandoah University on Wednesday followed by a trip to Lynchburg Saturday to take on the host UofL Hornets at 7 pm.

The Maroons come into the week at 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the ODAC
