The Roanoke College softball team will wrap up the regular season when they travel to Winchester Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference double header against Shenandoah University. The first game is scheduled for 1 pm.
Roanoke was 10-6 in ODAC games and 18-16 overall prior to a doubleheader against Guilford at the Moyer Complex in Salem this week. The Maroons dropped a non-conference twin-bill in Newport News, VA last Sunday, 4-0 and 9-1, a day after sweeping Bridgewater in ODAC play Saturday at Bridgewater College. Roanoke won those games 5-0 and 7-5 in eight innings.
In the opener with Bridgewater Ava Colontrelle went three-for-four with two runs batted in. Baylee Compton pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits.
In the nightcap Bridgewater scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings but the Maroons plated three in the eighth, then held off an Eagle rally in the bottom of the inning to secure the win. Carsyn Michaels and Allie Bell had two hits each and Bell drove in three runs. Camryn Perkins picked up her first win with two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen in relief of Grace Clary.
The ODAC tournament will be at the James I. Moyer Complex and its scheduled to begin on Friday, May 1.
