RC volleyball ranked 8th in ODAC, opens this week in Danville

The Roanoke College women’s volleyball team has been selected eighth in the 2022 ODAC Preseason Poll as announced by the conference. The Maroons, who open in Danville this weekend, collected 70 points in the poll.
Defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee secured the top spot in the poll with 144 points and 12 first-place votes. 2021 ODAC runner-up Virginia Wesleyan is picked second with 122 points and the last first-place vote among the league coaches. Randolph-Macon is third.
The Maroons open the season this weekend when they visit Danville for the 2022 Cougar Classic hosted by Averett. RC will play a pair of games both days starting off with Bob Jones and William Peace on September 2. The Maroons turn around the next morning and take on Piedmont and Meredith on Saturday, Sept. 3.
The next weekend the team returns to the Cregger Center to host the 2022 Maroon Classic taking on Salem, Methodist, N.C. Wesleyan, and Mary Baldwin over the two-day event.
