
The Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse on the Roanoke College campus will be the site of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference track meet this weekend. The meet will be held on Friday and Saturday in Salem, February 28 and March 1.
Last weekend the Maroons participated in the Wittenberg Invitational in Springfield, Ohio and RC senior sprinter Lindsey Hobin had a big day, picking up her third indoor Athlete of the Week honor this season. Hobin improved upon her personal best time in the 400m as she put down a 56.53 to take third place. Her converted time of 57.29 ranks her first in the ODAC and second in the region. Hobin’s 400m time also puts her at 22nd in Division III. The Rhode Islander also placed fourth overall and first among DIII competitors in the 200m, moving her up to second in the Roanoke’s all-time rankings for the event.
Ophelia Ladner came in third in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 9.32 seconds. She also finished third in the prelims at 9.17. Ladner is currently slotted second in the ODAC and fifth in the region.
For the men, Elias Ammon set a new school standard in the 800m, while Lorenzo Camobreco broke his own mark in the 400m. Ammon broke the Roanoke indoor record in the 800m with a time of 1:52.87. He also sits atop the leaderboards for both the ODAC and the region, and he resides in 35th place in the country. Camobreco improved upon his own school record in the 400m, winning the event with a time of 48.34 seconds. He currently leads the ODAC and the NCAA South Region in the event, and he ranks 27th in Division III.
Salem High grad Mitchell Taylor came in seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.73 seconds. His mark of 8.34 in the prelims was good for third place.
