
The Roanoke College men’s basketball team earned two major awards with the recent release of the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) 2024-25 College Division Men’s Basketball All-State Team, as senior Joshua McClary earned the Defensive Player of the Year award and Clay Nunley was named the state Coach of the Year.
McClary, named co-Roanoke College Male Athlete of the Year last week, was also a first-team all-state honoree. The ODAC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team selection, took home second-team NABC District 6 accolades and second-team Region 6 honors from D3hoops.com. He averaged a team-best 17.8 points, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. McClary ends his RC career ranking 29th in points, second in assists and eighth in steals.
Nunley led the Maroons to the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 16 for the first time since the 1995-96 campaign. Roanoke finished the 2024-25 season 25-6, the most wins for the program since the 1993-94 season. RC ranked No. 15 in the final D3hoops.com Poll. the highest in program history for a D3hoops.com season-ending poll. Over the past nine seasons, Nunley is 160-71 at RC for a 69.3 winning percentage. He has led 10 players to All-ODAC honors at Roanoke.
