The 2025 spring sports season is now in the books and Salem High was well-represented on Virginia High School League All-Region 4D teams, which were released in the past weeks.
In baseball Salem senior Trace Monroe was named at two positions. The VMI commit is first team as both a pitcher and outfielder. Junior Mason Hale also made the first team in the outfield.
In softball seniors Cora Robinson and Caitlin Wells were both second team all-region selections, Robinson as a pitcher and Wells as a catcher. Evie Van Liew, a freshman, is Honorable Mention at third base.
In boys’ soccer two Spartans made the All-Region 4D first team. Roanoke College bound Logan Lavinder was named at midfield and Anthony Rugama at forward.
In girls’ soccer three Spartans were recognized, all underclassmen. Sophomore Laikyn Funk is first team at forward, junior Gracie Michael is second team on defense and sophomore Karis Guy was named honorable mention in the goal.
Salem dominated the AllRegion boys’ lacrosse team. Region champion coach George Revercomb as named Coach of the Year and first team honors went to Jackson Jones, Parker Dallas, Jackson Wininger, Ronnie Frith, Ty Hicklin Brayden Hall and Ryan Warren. Carson Garland and goalie Richard Hof made the second team.
For the girls’ lax team goalie Bailey Redford was named to the first team. Second team selections are Anne Craig Thomas at attack, Eliza Blair on defense and Mia Potter at Midfield. Two middies, Rylee McNeill and Ashlyn Davis, garnered Honorable Mention.
