
The Salem Red Sox concluded the 2025 season at home last week, winning four of six games from the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. The four wins denied the ‘peckers a chance to make the Carolina League playoffs.
Salem finished the season with a 30-36 second half record and a 56-74 record overall. The Carolina League playoffs begin this week with Lynchburg and Fredricksburg playing in the North Division and Myrtle Beach and Columbia in the South. Lynchburg is a Cleveland affiliate and other farm teams are Fredricksburg for the Nationals, Myrtle Beach for the Cubs and Columbia is a Kansas City Royals team.
Antonio Anderson led the Sox in hitting this season with a .345 average in 84 at bats. Yoeilin Cespedes and Freili Encarnacion tied for the lead in home runs with 10 each, Cespedes in 428 at bats and Encarnacion with just 175. Cespedes also led in RBIs with 54 and runs scored with 56. Starlyn Nunez led the team with 21 steals.
On the mound, Griffin Kilander had a team high six wins with five losses. Eybersson Polanco had 71 strikeouts in 62 innings for team high and also led the team with five saves.
This was the last year the team will be known as the Red Sox. The club will announce a new nickname for the team on November 8th, although they’ll still be affiliated with Boston.
