Roanoke College’s lifelong learning arm, Roanoke College–Roanoke Valley (RC-RV), has announced a new workforce training initiative aimed at helping individuals build skills and earn industry-recognized credentials through flexible, online programs.

The program, developed in partnership with ed2go, offers more than 120 courses and certificates designed for working professionals seeking to upskill or transition careers. Course offerings span high-demand fields including health care, cybersecurity, project management, construction and skilled trades.

College officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the regional workforce and expand access to career-focused education.

“Our mission is to unlock new opportunities for the Roanoke Valley,” said Lisa Stoneman, assistant vice president of Roanoke College and head of RC-RV. “By making it easier for people to upskill and reskill, we’re empowering them to grow and build meaningful, rewarding careers.”

Courses are fully online and available on demand, allowing students to begin at any time and complete coursework at their own pace. The structure is intended to accommodate individuals balancing work and personal responsibilities.

Program leaders emphasized affordability and accessibility as key components, noting the courses are designed to provide alternatives to traditional two- and four-year degree pathways while helping close the gap between education and employment. The partnership with ed2go brings more than 25 years of experience in continuing education. The company has served more than 4.5 million students and works with a network of colleges, universities and workforce partners worldwide.

“Our collaboration with Roanoke College will open doors for future students, giving them access to a quality education, career advancement opportunities and successful job outcomes,” said Tracey Baschetti, vice president of sales at ed2go. “This partnership enriches lives by creating new paths to opportunities in high-demand fields while also providing employers with skilled talent for critical roles.”

Officials said the course catalog will continue to expand in response to workforce needs identified by local employers. More information about the program and available courses can be found at roanoke.edu/CareerReady.

RC-RV offers a range of educational opportunities across the region, including degree programs, dual enrollment, career training and personal enrichment courses, serving learners from high school through career advancement.
