The Roanoke College women’s softball team is scheduled to open the season this week.

The Maroons have a doubleheader at Greensboro College on Wednesday, then they won’t play again until Saturday, February 24, when they host Mississippi University for Women at the James I. Moyer Complex in Salem.

Two time defending conference champion Virginia Wesleyan opens the season as the coaches favorite in the annual poll of ODAC coaches. Just 12 points separate the next four positions as Randolph-Macon College is second with 66 votes. Emory & Henry College sits just three tallies behind with 63 points, while Lynchburg College and Guilford College round out the top-five with 59 and 54 points, respectively. The Maroons come in sixth with 43 votes.
