After battling back to score two goals and tie the game the Roanoke College field hockey team dropped an overtime game to DePauw University in Danville, Kentucky Sunday. Roanoke lost 3-2 to fall to 2-5 on the season.
DePauw scored twice in the first period to give the Tigers an early lead. Right after the half, Roanoke capitalized on a corner to cut the deficit in half. Corinne Orlando lifted a ball to the back post that fell to Kaitlyn Robertson who hammered it home.
RC then took advantage of another penalty corner early in the fourth quarter to knot the score at two. Elyse Cosgrave found the stick of Katherine Seal who scorched a ball into the middle that Maddy Holmes was able to get a touch on to finish past the keeper. The Tigers, however, got a chance at the beginning of the overtime period that they were able to finish off and earn the sudden victory.
The Maroons are back in action this Saturday when they host Sewanee at 11 am. It will be Family Weekend at RC.
