Roanoke Invit. at Green Hill Fri.

The Roanoke College cross country teams will host the Roanoke Invitational this Friday at Green Hill Park in west Roanoke County. Action is scheduled to begin at 5 pm with the men’s race and the women hit the trails at 5:50 pm.
The Maroons competed in the Royals Challenge, hosted by Queens University, in Charlotte, NC, on Friday, Ocotber 7. The men’s team finished 20th among 28 teams while the women were 17th among 25.
As a team, the Maroon men finished ahead of five NCAA Division I programs, one Div. II, one NAIA, and one NJCAA. Cooper Neeble was the top finisher for the Maroons and was the 93rd runner to cross the finish line in 26:31.7. Chamberlain Zulauf was another top 125 finisher for Roanoke in a time of 27:03.6. There was a total of 257 runners in the race.
Lauren Brown was the top Roanoke finisher in the women’s race, crossing the line in 51st place in a time of 21:32.8. Allison Sarver (112th – 23:46.7) and Savannah Reid (115th – 23:53.9) also finished in the top 125 among 199 women in the race.
