Rolling Thunder to hold Flame of Freedom Ceremony at New Freedom Farm

Rolling Thunder Inc., Chapter 1 of Mississippi, will present the Flame of Freedom Ceremony at New Freedom Farm on May 23 at 6:30 p.m. as it makes its way to the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C.

The Flame of Freedom Ceremony is held to honor those who are still being held in captivity as a symbol of hope for those captives. The light is kept burning to show the captives their way home. With the tagline, “You are not forgotten,” the Flame of Freedom Ceremony serves as a beacon of hope for those who are held in captivity and to their families.

New Freedom Farm says that it’s proud to bring the Flame of Freedom Ceremony to Buchanan for the first time, as this will be the last year that the Flame of Freedom will be going to the nation’s capital. The group will arrive in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day.

Music will be provided by Red Wine and Rock Solid. There will be presentations on the Missing Man Ceremony and 22 Too Many. The New Freedom Farm Color Guard will also perform.

The ceremony is open to the public and free. Gates open at 5 p.m. Food vendors include Aaron’s Smokehouse BBQ and Grandpa Ide’s Donuts.

New Freedom Farm is at 6118 Lithia Road in Buchanan.

The mission of Rolling Thunder, Inc. is to publicize the prison of war/missing in action issue. It is a non-profit organization.
