The Salem Dixie League All-Stars will open state tournament play this Friday at 8 pm in Appomattox. The Salem boys will take on the host Appomattox team in the opening round.

Salem is representing District 7 in the tournament after winning the district at the James I. Moyer Complex on July 10. The state tournament for 10 and under boys will include 10 teams in a double elimination format.

All first round games will be Friday, beginning at noon with Hopewell against Rustburg. At 2 pm South Boston will meet Lunenburg, followed by Buckingham against Prince Edward of Farmville at 4 pm, Bedford Metro against Montgomery County at 6 pm and Salem against Appomattox in the final game of a long day at 8 pm. The tournament is scheduled to run through Wednesday, July 28.
