Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries recently received an $18,000 grant award from the Fishwick Fund of The Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia to support its feeding programs, including the expansion of food pantries in the elementary schools in the Salem and Glenvar areas.
The group said the funds will be used to purchase refrigerators, shelving units and food items beginning in January 2023. It said it will be able to use the funds and other grant funds to transition its ACT Packs programs to the local elementary schools by providing annual financial support allowing the schools to be self-supporting and sustainable.
