Salem City Schools will once again provide free summer meals for children and teens beginning June 15 through the USDA Summer Meals program.

The program is designed to help families who rely on school breakfast and lunch programs during the academic year and may face additional food costs during the summer months. Breakfast and lunch will be available at no cost to children and teens ages 18 and younger. No application or proof of income is required.

Meals will be available at several locations throughout Salem.

At G.W. Carver Elementary School, located at 406 E. Fourth St., breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 7:45 a.m. and lunch from 9:45 to 10 a.m. from June 15 through July 31.

At Oak Park Apartments, 105 Otter Ave., lunch will be available from 10:50 to 11:10 a.m. from June 15 through July 31. Breakfast for the following day will be provided with lunch.

At Riverwalk Apartments, 1650 Lancing Drive, lunch will be available from 11:20 to 11:40 a.m. from June 15 through July 31. Breakfast for the following day will be provided with lunch.

Students attending Spartan Summer Camp at G.W. Carver Elementary School will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost from June 22 through July 24.

All meal sites will be closed June 19 and July 3 in observance of the Juneteenth and Fourth of July holidays.

Schedules are available in English and Spanish. For more information, contact Salem City Schools at 540-389-0130.
