Salem is the “Spring Jubilee” site for Virginia High School League Class 1 and 2 state championship events this weekend. Baseball, softball and girls and boys tennis champs will all be crowned in the “City of Champions” this weekend.
In baseball, Class 1 games will be held at Billy Sample Field. Semifinals are at 10 am and 12:30 pm Friday with the championship game at 11 am Saturday.
Class 2 baseball is at Salem Memorial Ballpark. Again, semifinals are at 10 am and 12:30 pm Friday with the championship game at 11 am Saturday.
Class 1 and 2 softball tournaments are both at the refurbished James I. Moyer Complex. Semifinals for both tourneys will be at 10 am and 12:30 pm Friday with championship games running concurrently on Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 11 am.
Class 1 soccer will be at Spartan Field, in front of Salem High School. On Friday boys’ semifinals will be at 9 and 11 am with girls to follow at 1 and 3 pm. There will be a championship doubleheader on Saturday with the girls opening at 10 am and the boys to follow at 12:30 pm.
Class 2 soccer will be played at Kerr Stadium on the campus of Roanoke College. Friday boys’ semifinals will be at 9 and 11 am with girls to follow at 1 and 3 pm. Saturday’s championship doubleheader begins with the girls at 10 am and the boys to follow at 12:30 pm.
