The Salem High boys finished in a tie for eighth place in the Virginia High School League Class 4 track meet last weekend at Liberty University in Lynchburg. The Jamestown boys and Blacksburg girls won state championships in the two-day meet.
Salem’s boys finished with 25 points, led by a second place finish in the 4×100 relay with the team of Coen Logan, Aedon Wiley, Justice English and Javon Jones. The Spartans ran a time of 42.16.
Logan also finished fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100 while English took a seventh in the 200. Mitchell Taylor was third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.37. Taylor was 16th in the 300 hurdles. Dontay Davis was 13th in the discus.
The girls had two relay teams competing and while not scoring they did compete well. The 4×400 relay team of Erin Armistead, Addy Funk, Maekayla Scott and Audrey Harmon placed 15th with a season best time and the 4×800 team of Funk, Addison Hancock, Caroline Huff and Harmon was 16th.
