Salem South students participate in annual clean up event

South Salem’s Student Council Association did their annual clean up the park and Greenway this year on May 2 at Moyer Sports Complex.

Since Salem City Schools were out for Spring Break, they invited the Green Team to come help them clean up the park. The Green Team, under the direction of Mandy Dallas, received a $500 community grant from Wal-Mart to implement a recycling program at South Salem. Students on the Green Team visited classes with plastic totes to collect mixed paper. Teachers and parent volunteers will rotate turns taking the collections to the city’s recycling bins. Their biggest mission was to teach the student body about the items that the city recycles and to emphasize no plastic bags in the recycling bins.
