In a recent burst of community excitement, Salem bore witness to a memorable event that brought neighbors together for a delicious occasion. The Apperson Café, located inside “Buy The Season,” held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. The new cafe gave away door prizes and kept a line of hungry shoppers eagerly waiting to try out some tasty delights.

Buy The Season has established itself as a cornerstone of Salem’s local scene since its start in March 2005. The epitome of a “one-stop” destination, the store is known for its ability to cater to a diverse array of preferences: from charming small gifts to substantial pieces of furniture that radiate character. When visitors step into the emporium’s welcoming interior, they are met with a mesmerizing assortment of treasures, spread across an expansive 24,000 square feet.

Contributing to the store’s charm were the more than 150 vendors who poured their creativity into its offerings. Yet, it wasn’t just the tangible items that made the store special; it was also the thoughtfully chosen retail selection that appealed to the senses. The gentle rustling of garden flags, the enticing aroma of scented candles and the vibrant hues of floral arrangements all added to the sensory tapestry.

On this occasion, however, the spotlight was shared with a new addition to Buy The Season – the Apperson Café, located inside. Visitors could smell the bakery when walking in and door prizes took center stage from 11:30 a.m. onwards, beckoning attendees to excitedly clutch their tickets and hope for some goodies. A special drawing at the top of each hour further heightened the suspense. However, the celebration went beyond drawings and prizes; it was an embodiment of community spirit, highlighted by the presence of numerous guests who joined to be part of the enjoyment. The store bustled with activity, with some indulging in shopping sprees while others sat down for a delightful meal or savory snacks at the Apperson Cafe. The atmosphere was a mix of laughter, conversation and the vibrant energy of shared experiences.

Many shoppers took a break before and after the ribbon cutting to enjoy doughnuts or tangy lemon bars. Others were taking a reprieve from the summer heat to come in and enjoy a hot dog, cold soda and a tasty cupcake. Whether looking for a whole lunch or a tasty treat, the Apperson Café has visitors covered. The baked goods showcased the café and those in attendance noted they looked as beautiful as they tasted. Many visitors enjoyed the purchase of a whole cake or several dozen doughnuts to take and share with family and friends.

The Apperson Café held a delightful ambiance as shoppers could chat, enjoy some good food and look around at all the bright colors, art and textures. While many visitors are looking to shop, the Apperson Café is the perfect place to relax, shop and dine.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Apperson Café was more than just an event; it was weaving threads in the tapestry of local life. As the community celebrated, shopped and connected, they etched a new chapter in the ongoing story of Salem, reinforcing the power of joining communally for moments of joy and community togetherness.
