The Salem High wrestlers were scheduled to meet William Byrd on the Spartan mats on Wednesday in a rare dual event. It will be the last action before the holidays for the Spartans.
Salem was in a tournament at Deep Run High School near Richmond last weekend and took eighth place out of 30 teams. The Spartans won two weight classes with Sayge Herndon going 4-0 at 106 and Derek Bush also placing first. Also placing were Giuseppe Baudanza and Jake James, who both took thirds.
“Very pleased with our effort and progression,” said Salem coach Lawrence Van Liew.
Glenvar was in a tournament at Holston High last weekend but no results were reported. The Highlanders are scheduled to go to Neward, Delaware for a tournament this Saturday.
