The Salem High girls are looking to snap a nine game losing streak when they travel to Roanoke for a River Ridge District game with Patrick Henry on Friday evening.

The Spartans won their first two games of the season but are still looking for their third victory. On Tuesday they fell to Christiansburg at the Moyer Complex, 12-3, for their ninth loss in a row and second in as many days.

The Salem girls were in Vinton to play William Byrd on Monday and dropped a 14-4 game. The highlight of the evening for the Spartans was a two-run homer by Piper Furmage, her second of the season. Evie Van Liew was three-for-three at the plate and Anne Crew had two hits.

Last Wednesday at the Moyer Complex Franklin County shut out the Spartans, 10-0. Furmage and Van Liew had hits for Salem against some strong Eagle pitching.

On Friday the Spartans were home again and fell to Hidden Valley, 16-2. Reagan Van Doren and Aspen Hannum had two hits each for Salem but the Spartans commited eight errors in the first two innings and that proved to be their undoing.
