
The Salem High track team was busy last week with a home meet and a trip to Vinton Saturday for the Terrier Team Challenge.
Salem hosted Christiansburg, Hidden Valley and Pulaski County in the first home meet of the season. It was a chance to recognize the seniors on a beautiful Salem day.
First place winner for the girls included Audrey Harmon in the 400, McKenzie Eversole in the 3,200 and all three relay teams. The 4×100 consisted of Alayah Copney, Amaria Corell, Jasmin Bond and Kaylyn Ross. The 4×400 team was Harmon, Olivia Huff, Addison Hancock and Caroline Huff, and the 4×800 foursome was Hancock, Caroline Huff, Isabelle Henzey and Madesyn Grubb.
For the boys, DaVon Jones won the 200, John Stovall won the 800 and Nicholas Baxley won the 300 hurdles.
On Saturday at Byrd 20 schools competed in the Terrier Team Challenge. Jones was second in the 110 and 300 hurdles and Baxley took third in the 300. The 4×200 relay team of Baxley, Jones, Tristen Noel and Aedon Wiley came in first.
Salem is at Hidden Valley on both Wednesday and Saturday this week. Glenvar did not run last week but will compete at Lord Botetourt High School today.
