Students gathered Saturday, May 16, at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke for the school’s 2026 prom, themed “Unmask the Night,” marking a historic milestone as the school crowned its first-ever Prom King and Queen.
Ke’Myja Gillum was named Prom Queen and Elijah Paddyfote was named Prom King during the event, which ran from 8 to 11 p.m. The coronations came after school administrators responded to student feedback requesting the tradition be added to the annual celebration.
The evening featured formal attire and festivities inside the museum, providing what organizers described as an elegant backdrop for the occasion.
Kim Martinez and the school’s Prom Committee were credited with organizing the event.
School officials said the decision to introduce the royal court titles was driven directly by student input and represented a first in the school’s history.
