The Salem High girls’ lacrosse team improved to 5-3 with an 18-5 win over Cave Spring at Bogle Field in Roanoke County Tuesday. Rylee McNeill and Anne Thomas had five goals each for Salem while McNeill had five assists and Thomas had three assists and seven draw controls. Ashlyn Davis had three goals and an assist while Mia Potter was two and two.

“Anne Thomas’ seven draw controls was a game changer,” said Spartan coach Mary Schwartz.

The Spartans have now won three in a row, including a big 15-8 win over Albemarle on the road last week. McNeill had four goals and three assists, Thomas had two goals and four assists and Madison Southern had three goals. Bailey Redford had nine saves in the crease.

The girls are at Rockbridge tonight.
