Weather wipes out most of prep schedule as spring break ends

Inclement weather wiped out a bunch of sporting events as the Salem and Roanoke County students returned from spring break this week. Salem soccer games were the only games played early this week due to turf fields at Salem and Patrick Henry High Schools.

Thursday’s schedule for Salem includes boys’ tennis and baseball at Blacksburg. Glenvar will have baseball at Grayson County today and a home softball game with Grayson. Andrew Lewis will play William Byrd at home in baseball and boys soccer while the softball and girls’ soccer teams are in Vinton. Lewis also has a home track meet.

On Friday the Spartans have a full schedule of action with baseball, boys’ soccer and boys’ tennis at home against Pulaski County. The Salem softball, girls’ soccer and girls’ tennis teams will be at Pulaski and the girls’ lacrosse team is at Franklin County.

The Glenvar baseball team is at Radford Friday while the Highlanders host Radford in softball. The soccer teams are at Parry McCluer and the boys’ tennis team is home to Radford while the girls are at Radford for tennis.

Next Monday, May 1, The Salem lacrosse team are at Jefferson Forest and the Spartans play Patrick Henry in tennis, with the girls at home and the boys away. Glenvar’s soccer teams are at James River.

In middle school action Monday Salem plays Glenvar. Salem will host baseball and boys’ soccer and Glenvar will host softball and girls’ soccer.

Next Tuesday, May 2, Salem will take on Christiansburg at home in softball, girls’ soccer and girls’ tennis. The Spartans are at Christiansburg in baseball and boys’ soccer.

Glenvar’s baseball team will host James River on Tuesday and the softball team is at James River
