Glenvar and Andrew Lewis Middle School spring teams all had games on Monday. Lewis teams played Read Mountain and Glenvar took on Cave Spring.
In baseball Lewis dropped an 8-5 decision despite outhitting the Starz. Landon Bell and Maclin Hale each collected two hits for the Wolverines. The Highlanders lost a tough game to Cave Spring, 12-7. The team collected nine hits, led by Raylan Frankling and Nic Mushall with two hits each.
In softball the Wolverines won their fourth straight, 9-5 over Read Mountain. Kaylee Crosswhite pitched and Daviah Goodman had two triples.
Glenvar slaughter-ruled Cave Spring, 12-2 in four innings. The Highlanders had an eight-run fourth inning highlighted by a Madi Dudley double. Sawyer Martin gave up no earned runs in the circle.
In boys soccer Read Mountain edged Lewis, 2-1. Matias Duque had the goal for Lewis. The GMS boys’ soccer team lost 4-1 against Cave Spring. The lone goal for the Highlanders was scored by Zack Smith and assisted by James Schruth.
Lewis tied Read Mountain in girls’ soccer, 2-2. Naziah Belcher scored the first Lewis goal and, down two goals to one, Lilian Richerson scored a free kick to tie the match in the second half. Lewis is now 6-0-2.
Glenvar lost to Cave Spring 3-0. Ryleigh Conner had five saves.
