Glenvar catcher John Deel looks to throw out a runner.

The Glenvar baseball team will be looking to pick up a Three Rivers District win on Friday night when they host James River at 5 pm. The Highlanders are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the district after losing to Carroll County in Hillsville Tuesday, 3-0.

Cale Vaughan pitched for Glenvar and deserved better. The game was a scoreless tie after five but the Cavaliers scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth, all unearned. Meanwhile, Glenvar managed just three hits, a double by Cam Feazell and singles by Vaughan and Jack Osburn.

The Highlanders were scheduled to play at Northside in a non-district game on Wednesday, but results were too late for publication. Feazell will start on the mound Friday against James River.

Last Thursday Glenvar was scheduled to play Martinsville. However, the Bulldogs aren’t able to field a team this spring so Glenvar gets a forfeit district win.
