The Glenvar softball team will host James River on Friday in what has been a long-standing rivalry. Game time is 5 pm at GHS.
The Highlanders are off to a 1-5 start after losing at Carroll County Tuesday night, 20-2. The Cavaliers scored 16 runs with two outs to run-rule the Highlanders. Glenvar had two hits, doubles by Zella Hayes and Hayden Hartz.
Glenvar’s only win thus far was a forfeit win over Martinsville, who no longer has a varsity team. The Highlanders had a home game with Northside on Tuesday, but results were too late for publication.
Next week the Highlanders will travel to Radford for a Three Rivers District game on Tuesday.
