The Salem High girls are 2-2 after a 3-1 loss against Blacksburg at Spartan Field Tuesday night. Emma Elder scored Salem’s goal on a free kick.
Last week Salem split two games, both by 5-0 scores. They lost at Cave Spring, 5-0, then shut out William Byrd Friday in Salem by the same tally. The Spartans led 2-0 at the half then put it away with three goals in the second half while Karis Guy kept the sheet clean in the cage. Laikyn Funk had a three-goal hat trick and Lacey Turpin and Elder had one goal each.
The girls were scheduled to return the trip to William Byrd on Wednesday but results were too late for publication. On Friday they host Hidden Valley at 7 pm on the Spartan Field pitch.
