End is Near for MS Spring Sports

It was a big day for middle school sports Monday with four Lewis teams competing against Blacksburg and four Glenvar teams taking on Hidden Valley.

Glenvar’s baseball team broke into the win column with an 8-2 win over Hidden Valley. Gabe Maloney picked up the win on the mound and Raylan Franklin had two hits.

In other Glenvar Middle sports the softball team won 14-1, the boys soccer team won 3-1 and the girls’ had their soccer game postponed as coaches Mark and Jen Rohrback were working the NCAA Division III volleyball championship at Roanoke College Monday night.

For Lewis the baseball team lost 15-5 while the softball team had 22 hits in a 19-17 win over Blacksburg. Lauryn Smith and Ava Price each collected four hits for Andrew Lewis.

Both Lewis soccer teams went down to defeat. The boys lost 2-0 and the girls dropped a 4-1 decision.
