The Salem Red Sox will wrap up the 2022 Carolina League season with a seven game homestand against Fredricksburg.
The visiting Nationals will be trying to wrap up a spot in the Carolina League playoffs when they take on the Sox this week. Fredricksburg comes in with a five and a half game lead over the Carolina Mudcats in the CL North Division with a week to play in the regular season. Fredricksburg is a Washington farm team and the Mudcats are in the Milwaukee system.
In the South Division the Tampa Bay feeding Charleston Riverdogs have a three and a half game lead over Columbia, a Royals farm team. Charleston is at Columbia for the final series so that will decide the South, with Charleston needing to win just two games to clinch the division.
Salem comes into the week 10 games behind Fredricksburg. The Sox were hoping to make this series meaningful before going 5-7 on a 12 game road trip through Columbia and Augusta in the past two weeks to fall completely out of contention.
The Sox come into the final series with a 28-31 second half record. They were scheduled to play a doubleheader Wednesday to make up a previously rained out game and have 7:05 pm games Thursday and Friday. Saturday’s start is 6:05 pm and the season will wrap up Sunday at 5:05 pm. Friday is Fan Appreciation Night with a mystery bobblehead giveaway, Saturday is Country Night and Sunday is First Responder Appreciation.
