The Roanoke College women’s soccer team will make their home debut this weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday in the Roanoke Invitational Showcase.
The Maroons will host Albion on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Kerr Stadium. Then, on Sunday, RC will host Sewanee at 3 pm. The University of Lynchburg will also play in the Showcase, taking on Sewanee at 11:30 am Saturday and Albion at 12:30 pm Sunday, all at Kerr Stadium.
The Maroons opened on the road last week and split two games to open the season. On Thursday at Greensboro College they took a 2-0 win. Tessa McMillian scored her first goal of the season in the 76th minute off an assist from Morgan O’Neill to put the Maroons up 1-0 late in the second half. MC Petrucelli put the game away with a goal at 85:30 off a pass from Lauren Rubino. Taylor Gallik got the shutout win in goal for the Maroons.
On Sunday in Baltimore the Maroons ran into a hot Johns Hopkins team and fell 11-0. The Blue Jays scored four minutes into the game and led 7-0 at the half.
