Glenvar Middle girls pick up first victory

The Glenvar Middle School girls picked up their first basketball win last week when beat Floyd County, 37-15, at the GMS gym.
Ryan Jones scored 17 points to lead the Highlanders. Zella Haynes and Kinley Phillips added six points each while Audrey Moles and Rebecca Magruder added four each. Ryleigh Dickerson and Scarlett McCall played solid defense for the Highlanders.
The boys game with Floyd was rescheduled due to sickness. The boys last played on November 21 when the took a 35-28 win over Christiansburg. JD Williamson led the Highlanders with 12 points and five steals, Levi King had eight rebounds and five steals and Evan Harris had seven boards and three blocked shots.
Both teams were scheduled to play at Carroll County on Wednesday followed by a girls-boys doubleheader at Central Academy in Botetourt County today.
