
Glenvar hosted a middle school track meet at Highlander Stadium last week and Andrew Lewis also competed along with Northside, North Cross and Southwest Virginia Academy.
Ava Poindexter once again led the Lady Highlanders with six first-place finishes in the 100, 200, 100 hurdles, high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Jaxson Kuzmich led the boys with victories in the mile and 800, including a dramatic mile win over a competitor who had defeated him earlier this season. Jaden Huggins had a big night, winning the long jump and high jump while placing second in the triple jump.
In the field events, Mylea Williams won both the shot put and discus, while Zack Smith followed his record breaking throw with a strong second place finish in the shot put (40-9). Zack Kidd stayed hot with another dominant win in his individual 100-meter dash, giving him two wins in two meets. Landon Hill also contributed solid efforts across his races.
The Lewis girls were led by double winner Madelyn Eversole who remained undefeated in the 1600 meters as well as winning the 800 meters. Brynn Clewis remained undefeated in the 400 meter dash, while Liv Lam won the 300 meter hurdles.
The 400 meter relay team of Lam, Carma Mitchen, Olivia Owens, and Lilliana Dean had a big win, as did the 1600 meter relay team of Clewis, Mitchen, Alice Carr, and Jo’Hanna Nugent.
The boys’ team remained undefeated and were led by top scorer Ian Rosier who won the triple jump and the 200 meter dash. Amir Franklin won the 400 meter dash, while Alijah Robinson won the 300 meter hurdles. Grant Martin was the winner of the discus throw.
The 400 meter relay team of Rosier, Joshua Elliott, Andrew Hall, and Liam Park, remained unbeaten. The 1600 meter relay team of Rosier, Raenick Nugent, Amir Franklin and Andrew Hall got the final win of the night.
The Lady Highlanders remain undefeated with Lewis finishing second while the Glenvar boys finished a tight second to undefeated Wolverines.
