Lewis is coming off a meet at James River High last week and the Highlanders swept the boys’ and girls’ titles in their home meet on April 12.

Last week in Buchanan Botetourt County’s Central Academy hosted a meet and the Lewis girls had one-two finishes in the 1600 meters with McKenzie Eversole and Amelia O’Brien, and in the 400 meters with Olivia Huff and Jazzy Bond. Eversole, Huff, Bond and Leigha Taylor also took first in the 1600 meter relay. Micayla Black, Brynn Clewis, Liliana Dean, Olivia Lam, and Nilay Otey all scored points for the Wolverines.

Ji’Zaiah Haynes was the big winner for the boys. He stayed unbeaten in the 100 and 200 meter dashes while winning the long and triple jumps. Dustin Peters remained perfect in the hurdles, as did Landon Nunley in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. Jahamere Nance won the high jump and the 400 meter dash for the Wolverines. The 400 meter relay team of Haynes, Eli Yates, Jermari Allen and Zyere Richardson took first place along with the 3200 meter relay team of Owen Jenkins, Declan Painter, Brody Malloy, and Grayson Phillips. Riley Ennis, and Grant Martin rounded out the scoring for the Lewis boys.
