The Salem High girls are hoping to have a home game to open the Region 4D playoffs next week after finishing the season at 10-4. Salem split games with Hidden Valley and Rockbridge to close the regular season.
Last Friday at Bogle Field the Spartans beat Hidden Valley in the rain, 11-4. On Monday they lost to their nemesis, Rockbridge, at home by a 15-5 count. Coach Maggie Pace would like to see the Wildcats again in the region tournament.
“Hopefully we will get the chance to see them in the region final,” said Pace. “We had 20 turnovers, but overall we are playing them better each matchup. I think if we can control the controllable, we can put together a win.”
On Monday at Spartan Field Addi Blanchard had two goals while Chloe Butt, Mia Esworthy and Bailey Stratton each had one. Butt and Morgan Tew had assists for the Spartans.
The Spartans are scheduled open region play next Tuesday, May 24.
