The Salem High track team competed in two different meets last week over three days and had some great results.
The Spartans competed in the annual Cosmopolitan Club meet at William Fleming where Austin Prosser was named the Outstanding Runner in the boys’ senior division. Austin won both the 800 and 3,200 meter races.
Other high finishes for the boys included Dustin Peters with a first in the 110 hurdles and John Stovall with a third in the 800.
For the girls, the foursome of Olivia Huff, Caroline Huff, McKenzie Eversole and Audrey Huff won the 4×800 relay. Eversole also won the 3,200 and Huff was third in the 400. The 4×400 relay of Olivia Huff, Caroline Huff, Madesyn Grubb and Hannah Patel took fourth and Patel was awarded the Cosmopolitan Club scholarship for $3,500.
Spartans also competed in the East Coast Elite meet at Christiansburg High School last weekend in a very competitive meet. For the boys, Aedon Wiley and Ji’Zaiah Johnson took one-two in the 200 while Nazeser Miller and Keenan Helm were one-two in the 400. Johnson was second in the 100, Wiley was third and Jayden Wood was fifth. DaVon Jones was second in the 300 hurdles and Wood was fourth in the long jump.
For the girls, Kaylyn Ross was fourth in the long jump.
