GHS Tennis Ahead When Rain Comes

The Glenvar girls will be home today for a tennis match against the first year James River team. James River does not have a boys’ team, but the Highlanders have a Friday match at home with the Jefferson Forest boys.

On Monday Glenvar’s boys were home to Alleghany. The Cougars came in undefeated and left the same, however they didn’t win. Glenvar was up 3-2 when rain postponed the match with four to go.

“We’re virtually tied in one, close in one, losing one and with one left to start,” said Glenvar coach Bob Haynie. “We need to win two matches to clinch the team win. It’s nice to see the grit our guys are showing now that we are in mid-season. We will most likely finish the match before we play them at Alleghany.”

The girls were at Alleghany Monday and lost 8-1. Karis Gillespie was the lone winner at the number four singles position.
