Families can once again enjoy free movies under the stars this summer as Salem’s Parks and Recreation Department brings back its popular outdoor movie series to Kiwanis Park.
The 2025 season kicks off Friday, May 23, with Disney’s Moana 2, an animated adventure featuring the voices of Dwayne Johnson, Auli’i Cravalho and Rachel House. Gates open at 7 p.m., and the film begins at dusk, around 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Now in its second year at Kiwanis Park, the event is held at Salem’s historic multi-purpose facility located at the corner of Florida and 6th streets. The park has hosted sports and entertainment events since its opening in 1932.
This year’s summer lineup also includes Inside Out 2 on June 20, Kung Fu Panda 4 on July 25, and Mufasa: The Lion King on Aug. 15. All movies will be shown on Friday nights and are sponsored by Renewal by Andersen.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Concessions will be available for purchase at the park, cash only. Pets are not allowed at the events.
